The Gog and Magog War

Battle of Gog and Magog

What is this war and where is Gog and Magog?

With so many false teachers out there teaching so many different things, we have to just read the Bible to know the truth! The word of God gives us ALL the information we need!

Many teach that this is Russia (I used to believe this because I didn't know any better, but the Bible corrected me), and other theories that are out there try to say it's another nation.

I've heard so many times, "many scholars say this is Russia"...

I apologize, but when I see "scholars" I have to laugh. These "scholars" are not scholarly at all.

If you look at the Hebrew in this passage, the patriarchs Meshech and Tubal are sons of Japheth, but in some translations they incorrectly use Rosh as if it's another patriarch or a place, but the Hebrew shows us that rosh is a word for "chief".

So the KJV is correct in this where is says "Eze 38:2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him"

And, when we research what Gog, the land of Magog means, we learn that it's the whole world. Sons of Japheth populated the world and God refers to it again in Rev 20 where He says it's the four quarters of the earth.

The sons of Japheth are the "chief" nations, which make up the nations of the earth (pretty much all of the Asian continent with Greece, Persia, Roman, Indo-German, China and the Asian peoples, etc.).

Some teach that this is some separate war, as well.

The truth of the matter?

The war in Eze 38 is not the same war that we see in Rev 20, but we can learn from Rev 20 who Gog and Magog refer to. And, the war in Rev 16 and 19 is definitely the same war prophesied in Eze 38.

The battle of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel 38-39 is the same as the battle of Armageddon in Revelation 16:14-16 and Rev 19 (see CHART A below), and then Gog and Magog (the nations of the world) also represent the final battle at the end of the 1000 year reign of Christ.

Ezek 38:2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him.

Rev 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

The "nations of the world" are represented by Gog, the land of Magog.

Notice in Revelation that it's the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth? That's all of the nations on the planet...

This image is a representation of the offspring of Noah's son, Japheth. Notice that Magog, Meshech and Tubal are all Japheth's sons?

The offspring of Japheth

This blood line is the offspring of Japheth, the son of Noah from whom the nations of Europe and Asia sprung. The blood lines were mixed with the sons of Ham during the centuries of the Roman Empire as well.

China, Japan, Indo-German, Persian, Greek and Roman peoples all came from this blood line. They were mixed with Ham's blood line during the Roman Empire.

The "land of Magog" in the time of the Roman Empire is basically all of the northern continent of Asia, including modern Russia, but not exclusively Russia. Modern day Magog includes the North and South Americas, including Canada, since it was Europeans who essentially migrated and populated these continents, and includes Egypt and African nations.

So, we can see why Revelation depicts it as all of the nations of the earth.

Russia will certainly be involved in the end time events, but the representation of Gog and Magog is the nations of the world, not one specific nation.

Is Gog and Magog the same war as the Battle of Armageddon? Take a look at this chart:

Chart A

Also compare Ez 39:4, 17-20 with Rev 19:17-18, 21

Eze 39:4  Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.  ... 17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.  18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.  19 And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.  20 Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.

Rev 19:17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;  18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. ... 21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Study the chart and compare what occurs in each scripture. Each of the passages are describing the same events that occur immediately after the Tribulation at the Battle of Armageddon (same as the Battle of Gog and Magog).

Notice that the Seal, Trumpet and Vial all have an earthquake and the wrath of God is come upon the earth. Matthew shows the same events that also are shown in the 6th Seal and the events in Matthew happen immediately after the Tribulation, which is when the battle of Armageddon takes place. The islands and mountains moving, the great hail, God's wrath and the earthquake from Ezekiel are the same as the 7th Vial and except for the hail not mentioned in the Seal, it's also the same. Likewise the 7th Trumpet has the same events except for mountains moving.

The conclusion is obvious. All of these events happen at the same time but they are described in several places in the bible. The battle of Gog in Ezekiel is the same event as the battle of Armageddon.
