Bible Prophecy and Truth

Have you ever heard that Noah was a bad preacher but was a great boat builder?

the Ark

Gen 5:32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. 9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Noah probably had a lot more than three sons. Like Adam, we know that Adam and Eve had many children (Genesis 5:4), but we're only told about three of them: Cain, Able, and Seth

We're only told about the sons of Noah that went with him on the ark. The three sons who loved God.

A very conservative estimate (the women only having one daughter every 20 years) is that there was likely over a million people on the earth by the time of Jared, and over a billion a thousand years later at the time of the flood.

All the other men we know about who loved God other than Noah died before the flood: Seth, Enoch (not dead but taken to heaven), Methuselah; all died prior to the flood.

So, out of a billion or so people. There were 8 that loved God when the flood came. Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives.

Gen 8:13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.

Noah preached the whole hundred years I'm sure... warning everyone of the coming flood...

2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

Noah was a preacher of righteousness...

Does that mean he was a bad preacher?

In Gen 6 quoted above we see that every imagination of the thoughts of men's hearts was only evil continually...

Just like today, in our world, in our societies, in our homes and in the hearts of everyone, there is nothing but selfish pride, arrogance and imaginations that are continually evil. Even so called Christians are mostly humanistic pragmatists. To them, God is only real if He's useful to them and makes them happy. If they pray and find that they get what they want (even if it's solely due to them going and getting it), then it's true and they love God for giving them happiness. If things don't work out as they wanted then they blame God or think they've done something bad that God is punishing them for.

If you're someone who truly loves the Lord and has spent any time talking to people about Jesus, then you know that it's really, really hard to find someone who is truly humble and will turn to God with their whole heart.

Most people want God, but they want God to conform to their ideas and make all their dreams come true. They want God to get on board with their plans instead of getting on board with what God wants.

Any preacher who preaches the truth today will have a very, very small congregation.

Just like Noah.

So I say Noah was a GREAT preacher. Just like today, nobody wanted to hear the truth when he preached!

Matt 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Few as in the days of Noah? I pray there are more than 8 people who love the Lord!

Read 2 Timothy 3!

We are in the perilous times that he's talking about!

Phil 2:12 ... work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Pick up your Bible and read 2 Peter 2:1-11. Pray for those 8 things daily and seek them with all your heart! Those 8 things please the Lord and ensure your salvation!

2 Peter 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Above all, love God with all your heart!
