The Identity of Jesus...
Have you ever heard someone say, "It's the mystery of God" when they can't explain something in the Bible?
Do you understand the mystery of God?
Colossians 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints...
If you're a Christian, you should have read the Bible at least once all the way through, and you should understand the mystery!
It's not an excuse for ignorance; it's a hidden truth that God reveals to those who love Him!
Just as the Day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night only to those in darkness, but not to those who are His people, so is the mystery of God only for those in darkness.
1 Thessalonians 5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night ... But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
I would bet you've heard people say, "the Day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night", as if that's true for everyone, haven't you?
Just as the gathering of the saints (the rapture) will come at the last trumpet, so shall the mystery be finished at the last trumpet!
Revelation 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished...
This is when the Lord Jesus appears in the clouds of heaven with power and glory, and every eye shall see Him!
This will reveal His identity to the world (those in darkness).
All will understand who He is at that time. We will all know that He is the Mighty God!
This event is the Revelation of Jesus Christ!
The Book of Revelation's original title was "The Revelation of Jesus Christ" because that's what the entire book is about.
His coming in the clouds is His revelation to the world and the finishing of the mystery.
He takes those that love Him out of the world and pours out His wrath, and then finishes His descent to take over the world and rule with a rod of iron for 1000 years.
Everyone will know beyond any doubt that He is God Himself at that time.
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
The truth of the matter? The mystery of God is:
Jesus is the "divine expression" (the word) of God. (John 1:1) It's how God "expressed" Himself into His own creation! He is the image of the invisible God. It is by Him and for Him that all things were made.
Jesus said: John 4:24 God is a Spirit...
And Jesus is the body where God dwells:
Colossians 2:9 For in him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Hebrews 1:3 (Jesus is) ... the express image of his (God's) person
Colossians 1:15 (Jesus) Who is the image of the invisible God
He is the image of the invisible God.
When He was on the earth, born of a woman, He limited Himself so that He would be capable of being tempted, and capable of being killed, both of which are impossible for God. It is quite amazing how God managed to do that, but it's not important that we understand the how, only the why.
This is all the "mystery of God". The identity of Jesus has been hidden from the beginning.
Ephesians 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.
The identity of Christ is the most widespread lie of Satan that there is!
He does not want you to know that Jesus is God the Father manifest into the world as a human being! God became a man by the Son! Satan does not want you to know how important it is to take on the Name of Jesus by being baptized into His Name, not a list of titles; the Name of Jesus has all power!
Satan does not want you to know any of that.
If we want to know God, who He is, or what He looks like, we can simply look at Jesus to see how God has manifested Himself into the world.
And He's coming back soon!
Don't delay! Turn to Jesus with your whole heart and worship Him, following Him in repentance and obedience!
