What will life be like during the millennial reign of Christ? What does the Bible tell us about it?

I've taught a lot about the millennial reign, but never created a document or video about it specifically, so here's some scriptures and some thoughts on this time.

The Millennial reign is the Day of the Lord!

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

We are at 6000 years since creation, 6 millennial days, and the 7th day is the Lord's Day. See: Earth's Age

This begins when Jesus returns at what's known as "The Second Coming".

Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Jesus will appear in the clouds of heaven with power and glory, and the sun, moon and stars go dark as He pours out His wrath...

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Isaiah 40:5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

The heavens will go away... And I believe this is literal. There will be no heavens during the millennial reign of Christ! He will make new heavens and a new earth after the reign!

Isaiah 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

Revelation 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together...

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night (but only to those in darkness, 1 Thessalonians 5); in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up... Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Mark 13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

Then He pours out His wrath... Many, many, many people will die during the wrath of God... Two of the vials turn all of the seas and rivers in the world to blood! At the end of which the Antichrist brings the nations of the world to destroy Israel...

Revelation 19, and Ezekiel 38 and 39 show us the battle of Armageddon where Gog and Magog, the armies of the nations of the world led by the Antichrist, will fall upon the mountains of Israel...

And "it is done", same as Revelation 16 at the 7th Vial of His wrath, and the battle of Armageddon.

Ezekiel 39:8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.

The Day of the Lord!

Revelation 16:17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.

The "battle" of Armageddon is not a battle, as Jesus simply speaks a word to wipe them out...

Revelation 19:21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth...

And it's a very great army that is destroyed!

Ezekiel 39:11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.

Verse 12: And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land...

Can you imagine? 7 months to bury the dead... wow...

Then Christ takes over the world and rules with a rod of iron for 1000 years!

Isaiah 40:10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

Revelation 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron...

Verse 16: And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

As we saw, the heavens will depart, and Jesus will be the Light of the World:

Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.  For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.  And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.  Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

Daniel gives us some information about the millennial reign...

Daniel 7:9 Shows His take over of the world as we saw in Revelation 19: I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

And, as we see in Revelation 19, verse 11 also shows the destruction of the Antichrist: I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

In Revelation 20 we see that Satan is also bound in the Bottomless Pit for the duration of the millennial reign.

Daniel 7:12 shows those who will remain for the 1000 year reign: As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

So, the lion, bear and leopard are not destroyed completely when the 4th ten-horned beast is. The 10 nation union that the Antichrist creates and aligns with the other 3 nations will be destroyed but there will be people left on the earth that survive the wrath of God and the destruction of the armies.

Zechariah 14:4 through 9 shows the battle of Armageddon, how Jesus touches down on the Mount of Olives and there is a great earthquake, and Jesus takes over the world.

Isaiah 11 - The Branch (Jesus) shall have the 7 Spirits of God on Him, as we also see in Revelation 1. This prophecy walks us into the 1000 year reign...

Isaiah 2:1-5 He shall rule from Jerusalem and they will beat their swords into plowshares...

There will be complete peace on earth for 1000 years! No wars of any kind!

The lion will lay down with the lamb...

Isaiah 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

All nations shall worship Jesus in Jerusalem during the millenium:

Zechariah 14:16 shows how it will be during the millennium: And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Isaiah 27:13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

Revelation 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

We see in Zechariah 13 that two thirds of the unbelieving Jews will die during the Tribulation and the Wrath of God, but a third will remain.

Zechariah 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.

They will be brought through the fire during the millennial reign.

Zechariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

All nations will worship Jesus during this time!

Isaiah 19:22 And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them. In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.  In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:  Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

An highway across the world...

Isaiah 35:8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.

During this time, those who belong to Jesus will have been changed from mortal to immortal and will rule with Him as kings and priests.

There will likely be some form of salvation for those still living on the earth, including the remaining Jews that survived and whom did not believe in Jesus. It will probably be a rule requiring obedience to the Law once again, but the scriptures do not elaborate. Only that He will rule with a rod of iron and the keeping of the Feast of Tabernacles, which indicates it will not be easy.

At the end of the 1000 years, Satan is loosed from his prison to go and deceive those who hate God and gather them to battle the Lord, and the camp of the saints, but God simply wipes them out with fire from heaven... We're not told how long this takes, but if you think about it; How long would it take to create an insurrection when there certainly will be people who are full of hate and only obey because they were forced to? Probably not too long. Weeks or months maybe? Remember, men can be plenty evil without Satan. There will be talk among men, and knowledge of each other who hate the Lord, so when Satan is loosed he will simply gather them to do battle fairly easily I would bet.

Then, God makes a new heaven and a new earth, as perfect as it was before sin entered into it.

Those who love Him, and overcome, will inherit all things and God will dwell with them forever and ever!

Conclusion:

Jesus will appear in the clouds of heaven immediately after the tribulation (which is the wrath of Satan), and He will take those that love Him out of the world, the dead in Christ and the living, and they will meet Him in the air, and then He will pour out His wrath on the "children of disobedience".

Then He touches down on the Mount of Olives and wipes out the armies of the world that the Antichrist is leading down through the valley of Megiddo to destroy Israel, and He throws the two men, the False Prophet and the Antichrist, alive into the Lake of Fire.

He takes over the world at this point, and will rule "with a rod of iron".

Seems like it would be best to repent now, when it's so easy, and not take a chance of being destroyed or having to live under a much harsher time where it will probably be very difficult to find salvation.

He rules from Jerusalem for 1000 years with His saints as kings and priests ruling with Him.

No war anywhere on earth... Peace on earth for 1000 years!

Satan is released and brings those who hate God to attack but God destroys them.

All that remain will be those who love the Lord and will most certainly be saved!

He makes a brand new universe for us to have for an inheritance and dwell with our loving God, Jesus, forever and ever!
