Jesus told professing Christians of His day to Repent, OR ELSE! This means us, too!

Rev 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Jesus is talking about them who have the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which He hates! This doctrine is the same thing being taught today in churches all across the world! This is the doctrine that sexual sin is ok, that being gay is ok... fornication is ok...

Are we taking God for granted as most so-called Christians do? Do we say, "Well, I said the prayer, so I'm saved."? Have we read the Bible? Don't we know that this attitude will be our destruction?

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Do we know that the Bible commands obedience, and that no, it does not say that simply saying a prayer will save your soul?

Repentance means change!

Christianity in the book of Acts and the instructions given us in the Epistles, and from Jesus in His letters to us, the church, was a very serious thing that prompted action and obedience!

Jesus did NOT say, first go take care of your family and/or bid them goodbye.

Luke 9:59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. 61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. 62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Are you blatantly ignoring Jesus' point blank instructions???

Are you one of the many who refuse to forsake their family even though they don't love Jesus?

Matt 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

Matt 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

REPENT, OR ELSE!!!

Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Jesus expects our works, the things we DO, to be perfect!

Rev 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. 3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent.

This does not imply that we can be perfect, in any way. It means we can submit to God, and obey Him, and love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and THAT is what will make us perfect!

Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

When Jesus sent His disciples out on the mission trips, this is His instructions to us-ward in how we should treat those that refuse the Truth. And this includes our family!

Mark 6:10 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place. 11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. 12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

We don't hang around the world, and be a friend to the world, we shake the dust off our feet and go find someone who will listen!

James 4:4 ... know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

REPENT, OR ELSE!!!

For our works to be perfect, we must submit to God in complete obedience, not partial obedience! We can't pick and choose what we want to obey!

Mat 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance...

Given what Jesus said to professing Christians of His day, do we think this statement applies only to those outside the church???

Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

This includes those who claim to know Christ, but are not obedient!

Rev 2:21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. 22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

Rev 2:23 ... and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

God knows your heart! REPENT, OR ELSE!!! Get serious about God!

Phillipians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
